Introduction
WHAT - THE FACILITY
The Dance Conservatory of Tribeca will be dedicated to the teaching of a variety of dance forms including classical ballet, contemporary dance modern, tap, jazz and hip- hop.
DCT will serve the community by bringing the performing arts to it and
provide a showcase for its young dancers.
DCT will also serve the community by offering an Adaptive Dance program for helping children with special needs such as Down’s Syndrome integrate better with other children in their age group by teaching them fundamental dance movements and rhythms.
Creating a truly environmentally sustainable and safe environment that encourages everyone’s participation in maintaining the integrity of the school
WHY - PURPOSE
Dance gives children a creative outlet, and a way of uniquely expressing themselves. However not every child is aware of opportunities that may be available to them when it comes to actually attending a dance school of high standards.
Reaching young children and teens through dance by offering many forms of dance techniques, thus developing not only a versatile and extraordinary dancer, but also a well-rounded human being.
Reaching young children and teens by giving them an opportunity that they might not of had by providing financial aid and scholarships.
Building Selection and Block Allocation
Inspiration
The design of the new facility will embody the concept of diamond in the rough. A diamond as found in nature is an allotrope of carbon, where the carbon atoms are arranged in a variation of the face-centered cubic crystal structure known as a diamond lattice. When a diamond is extracted, cleaned and polished it is refined and highly valuable. Diamond in the rough symbolizes the experience a child will go through at DCT. He or she will experience a metamorphic transformation growing both physically and mentally.
